On Friday, February 20, 2026, I gave a seminar at the Shimizu Group at the University of Zurich.
The seminar was titled:
Toward understanding the evolution of self-compatibility in Japanese Arabidopsis halleri

The 12th research meeting of the International Leading Research project “Key-Molecule Network in Plant Reproduction (KEPLR)” was held under the organization of Prof. Takayuki Kohchi.
The meeting featured invited talks by Professor Ueli Grossniklaus, Vice-Director of KEPLR. A total of 24 participants gathered on-site.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Kudoh Group organized a seminar at the Center for Ecological Research, Kyoto University. Dr. Rie Shimizu-Inatsugi (Department of Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies, University of Zurich), from the Shimizu Group, was invited to give a lecture.

京都大学 工藤研究室の清水華子です。　
2026年3月2日にイギリス・ジョンイネスセンター（JIC）のDr. Antony Doddグループ、3月4日から6日にスイス・チューリッヒ大学の清水健太郎博士グループを訪問しました。
非常に短期間での訪問でしたが、セミナーやディスカッションを通して多くの知識やアドバイスをいただきました。今後の研究に関する新しいアイデアやモチベーションを得られた、貴重な体験でした。

＜イギリス＞
JICがあるノリッジへは、ロンドンのリバプールストリート駅から列車で向かいました。車窓からは牧草地や家畜たちが見られ、長閑な眺めを２時間ほど楽しむうちにノリッジに到着しました。ノリッジは古い建物や大聖堂、お城などが立ち並ぶ美しい街で、ジョンイネスセンターはその郊外にあります。

ジョンイネスセンターではセミナー発表をさせていただき、またその前後にも多くの研究者とディスカッションする機会をいただきました。
セインズベリー研究所も同じ敷地内にあり、セミナーを広くアナウンスいただいたので、多くの方がセミナーを聴きに来てくださりうれしかったです。
Antonyさんによるとイギリスで市内に国立公園があるのはノリッジだけで、少し足を伸ばすとたくさんの野生生物が観察できるとのことでした。今回は時間がありませんでしたが、また機会があればぜひ訪れたいと思います。

＜スイス＞
翌日ノリッジからロンドンに列車で移動し、ロンドンシティ空港からチューリッヒに向かいました。ロンドンからチューリッヒへは空路で２時間もかからず到着します。
チューリッヒではKEPLRハウスに滞在させていただきました。空港からKEPLRハウスへは鉄道やトラムで１時間弱で到着します。SBB mobile（https://www.sbb.ch/en/travel-information/apps/sbb-mobile.html）というアプリを事前にスマートフォンで準備しておいたのですが、鉄道・トラム・バスすべてで使用可能、最適な経路・時刻表情報を得られると共にクレジットカード決済もでき、大変便利でした。

チューリッヒ大学でもセミナー発表と個別ディスカッションをさせていただき、多くの知見を得られました。
また大学内の見学や、ラボミーティングや学科全体でのポスターセッションへの参加、さらに植物の調査地へも連れて行っていただきました。
空き時間にチューリッヒ大学の植物園にも見学に行き、多くの植生を観察できたことも収穫でした。

１週間で２箇所を回るというスケジュールでしたが、日程調整に対応いただき、また暖かく迎えていただきました。
今回の訪問で得られたものを今後に活かし、研究を発展させていきたいと思います。
